Auditioning and Casting Talent

When you produce a movie or video, you try to match the actors to the description of the people in the script. For a young girl, you select a young actress, for a scruff man, you would select an actor who has that scruff look and a deep voice. Producers cast many actors to find just the right ones.

On-Camera talent:
To produce an original video in another language, the same procedure applies. A casting call is sent out and actors will send their existing demos together with a description and photos for pre-selection. Once actors have been pre-selected, they will be asked to appear at the casting facility to perform their auditions. Should talents live far away or if you are dealing with a lesser known language and therefore your choice of actors is limited, we might first produce an audition off-site and send you the demo reel for further pre-selection.

We review the bio of each actor to assure a good fit for the part in your script. We try to avoid having a vegetarian actor eat meat for a restaurant commercial, an animal-hating actor having to pet or feed a dog, or having a non-swimmer jump in a pool. Even though actors can overcome anything, it will take the director much longer to get that perfect production.

Voiceover talents:
When you receive a finished video or movie for a voiceover production, the actors are already on camera and now it is important to select the speakers who resemble the style and age of the actors for dubbing.

World Translation Center works with speakers and studios to find the right talent for your video and your budget. Casting is normally handled internally and demos of the selected speakers sent to you for evaluation. Voice talents are professional actors who can manage and change their voice to reflect the style of the original actor.

Most of the time, existing demos are sufficient to make a selection, but if not, actors can read lines from your script so that you can pick whoever you who think best represents the actor in your video. Depending on the number of lines you request to be read, a small fee might apply.

• Usage of your video: it is important to know how your video will be used. These days, it is assumed that each video will be uploaded to the Internet and that does normally not cause any additional usage fee. But if your video is used as a sales tool, a usage or license fee might apply.
